Girlfriend 2 Girlfriend
Magazine for Women
Submission Guidelines

Listed below are the guidelines and editorial needs for Girlfriend 2 Girlfriend magazine. We are accepting submissions for all issues of 2009. Please study the current issue of the magazine as well as the guidelines before making your submission.

1.   Articles are to be self improvement articles that offer readers practical advice. Advice articles shall receive priority.  Articles need to be 1000 words and to the point offering women better and simpler ways to do things, ways that reduce stress. For example, 10 Simple Ways to Plan a Family Vacation; 8 Steps to a Stress-free Thanksgiving Dinner, etc. Please study the monthly topic list found on the “Guidelines” page of each issue. Priority will be given to articles that take this approach and stick to the topic. Please also bear in mind that Girlfriend 2 Girlfriend is a general interest magazine for women. Contributors need to consider our market and submit articles that serve that market.

2.   Articles do not need to be formatted. Single spaced, Times New Roman 12pt. is perfect. Tabs must be avoided. No footers or headers. Mailing address must be in the top left hand corner of the first page as part of the page, not as a header. Send your article as an attachment to an email.

3.   Multiple articles may be submitted. They must be sent in  separate emails. No more than 3 articles submitted at a time.

4.   We pay the honorarium upon acceptance. Granted, it may take us a week or so to get the check out but it goes out once an offer has been made and accepted. Keep this in mind before you accept our offer. Once we receive your acceptance, we expect you to honor your commitment. For this reason, although articles are accepted for one time rights (meaning you may submit it to other periodicals once it is published by us, not before), we shall no longer accept simultaneous submissions. We shall get back to you immediately with an answer to enable you to continue the submission process should we decline. Authors submitting articles simultaneously, accepting our offer, only to withdraw the article because a better offer came after shall be required to return the honorarium. In addition, we are only human. We may not wish to work with authors who choose not to follow the rules.

5.   We are looking for new contributors. With the changeover in the magazine, we are expanding our size. We need articles to enable us to offer the best publication possible to our readers. We also feel the changeover gives opportunity to contributors who might not have felt Simple Joy was the right niche for them.

6.   Our goal as a publication and company is to mentor authors. If you need help, direction or advice, do not hesitate to contact us. One of the reasons we encourage beginning authors to submit to Girlfriend 2 Girlfriend is to help them develop their writing ability and break any bad habits they may have early in the career. Please accept any comments or suggestions we make in this spirit. We know that it is often the small things that prevent authors from moving forward in their careers.

7.   Submissions need to be sent to:

This policy is designed to make things easier for all of us. We wish to offer more diversity in our magazine. We wish to respond to your submissions in a quick and timely manner. We wish to enable you to continue submitting articles to other publications should we decline acceptance. We wish to help you grow as an author. We hope you wish to join us in that pursuit.
